Sales and technical manager

Benchmark Genetics is seeking a qualified Sales and Technical Manager to oversee sales activities for salmon ova, health products, and salmon on a global scale.

Job Purpose

The Sales and Technical Manager oversees all sales-related activities concerning salmon ova, lumpfish, health-related products, and salmon to customers in Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Additionally, the role involves managing sales from Iceland to specific land-based production companies worldwide. The primary responsibility of the Sales and Technical Manager is to support Benchmark Genetics and Animal Health activities in the Icelandic market. This position is pivotal in upholding Benchmark’s prominent position in the Atlantic salmon aquaculture industry in Iceland.

The role requires frequent travel to customer sites across Icelandic and Faroese hatcheries and Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) facilities to oversee and coordinate salmon egg inputs. It also involves providing technical support to freshwater and seawater customers on various aspects, including genetics and fish health. Reporting to the Commercial Director, Salmon, the Sales and Technical Manager collaborates with the Commercial Lead UK and Global Land-Based teams when necessary and plays a crucial role within the Commercial team.

The Sales and Technical Manager at Benchmark Genetics reports to the Commercial Director Salmon, with a dotted line to the General Manager, Iceland. Based in Iceland, the role involves regular travel and a hybrid home and office working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales management for salmon ova customers, with special responsibility for Icelandic and Faroese customers
  • Sales of health products from Benchmark Animal Health to Icelandic customers
  • Provide support for the sale of caviar and salmon globally from Benchmark Genetics Iceland
  • Management and coordination of salmon sales (Non-maturing fish).
  • Maintain and update sales information in Breed Control.
  • Sales of lumpfish, delivery and follow up on customers, planning with General Manager, Iceland
  • Frequent visits and providing support to customers for all relevant Benchmark products
  • Create and maintain good relationships with clients
  • Contribute when appropriate with other parts of the Benchmark organisation

Qualifications and experience

  • Strong aquaculture experience and a solid understanding of production.
  • University degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Commercial mindset, preferred sales experience, and ability to demonstrate excellent results
