Benchmark Genetics’ operations in the Americas consist of two land-based units. The genetic nucleus of our shrimp breeding program, located in four hectares of land by the Atlantic coast of Colombia near Cartagena, and Benchmark Genetics’ Elite Multiplication Centre (EMC) is located in Fellsmere, central Florida, US.
Biosecurity is the main priority in all our operations. Certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario (ICA), our sites in the Americas are safely isolated from other aquaculture productions, have only one biosecure entrance and their perimeters are securely fenced. Entrance is restricted, and rigorous sanitary routines are carried out daily in order to keep and ensure our strict levels of biosecurity.
