Earlier today the 26th of May, a category F1 tornado hit downtown Puerto Varas, the city where Benchmark Genetics Chile has its headquarters. Fortunately, our offices were not directly affected, although the area experienced an extended power outage.
We are relieved to report that all our employees, their families, and their homes are safe. Our production facilities are located far from the impacted area and have not been affected.
While we were spared from damage, this serves as a stark reminder of how climate change is contributing to more extreme and unpredictable weather events.
Our thoughts are with everyone in the local community who may have been affected.
