Benchmark Genetics is pleased to announce that Javiera Espinoza has taken on a new position within the company’s Genotyping Services team, as part of our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, science-based solutions to aquaculture breeding programs worldwide.
Javiera brings with her several years of experience as a Junior Geneticist with Benchmark Genetics Chile, where she has played a key role in supporting breeding programs and delivering tailored genetic solutions to our clients. A trained marine biologist with a degree from the Universidad de Valparaíso, Javiera is recognized for her strong organizational skills, technical competence, and problem-solving approach.
In her new role, Javiera will contribute to the development and delivery of Benchmark Genetics’ global genotyping services- a growing business area that offers cost-effective, high-resolution SNP genotyping and customized genomic tools for a wide range of aquaculture species.
These services span the full pipeline—from DNA extraction to genotyping and the delivery of high-quality genetic data. Benchmark Genetics currently offers SNP panels for nearly 30 aquaculture species, along with custom panel designs tailored to the specific needs of breeding programs around the world.
Javiera will support laboratory workflows, quality control, and customer project coordination, while also advancing her skills in bioinformatics and genetic data analysis.
She will report to Carolina Peñaloza Navarro, Lead for Molecular Genetics, who oversees the development and delivery of Benchmark Genetics’ genotyping solutions.

Javiera will be initially based in Chile, with plans to join the Edinburgh team at a later stage.
