Benchmark Genetics Iceland is looking for a QHSE specialist

The QHSE expert is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of quality, health, safety and environmental issues at the company, with the aim of ensuring high quality products and services, the safety of staff and the protection of the environment. The job requires a systematic approach and collaboration across teams to achieve set QHSE goals and contribute to continuous improvement in the operation.

Education and competence requirements

  • Higher education (BSc or higher) in the field of life sciences, preferably in appropriate fields such as aquaculture, fish health, HSE (health, safety and environment), risk management or sustainability
  • Experience working with quality standards and standards such as ISO (9001, 14001), GLOBAL G.A.P. or RSPCA Assured is desirable.
  • It is desirable to have experience in the preparation, review and publication of quality documents
  • Strong ability to adopt new things, work systematically and focus on detail
  • Excellent skills in Icelandic and English, both in spoken and written language
  • Good computer skills; experience with Microsoft Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI is an advantage
  • Valid driving license

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Manage and support the operation of the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Develop, review and maintain/update documents, procedures, instructions and job descriptions and publish documents in the QMS system
  • Provide process owners with installation/updating and displaying documents for the QMS system
  • Train employees in the use of the company’s quality management system, including document review and follow-up and analysis of deviations. Also provide training in other aspects of the QHSE and certification processes
  • Record, track and follow up on deviations and improvement notices in the QMS system
  • Map out risk and carry out risk assessments
  • Update documents related to feed suppliers as required by GLOBAL G.A.P. and ultimately other standards
  • Plan and perform exercises in emergency preparedness
  • Participate in internal and external audits
  • Contribute to the ESG projects of Benchmark Genetics
