Laksen p\u00e5virkes vanligvis sent i produksjonsfasen, hovedsakelig i det andre \u00e5ret etter overf\u00f8ring til sj\u00f8. De \u00f8konomiske tapene for\u00e5rsaket av et CMS-utbrudd kan v\u00e6re betydelige. De siste \u00e5rene har frekvensen av CMS-utbrudd \u00f8kt i hele Norge, i Skottland og p\u00e5 F\u00e6r\u00f8yene. I v\u00e5re stamfiskpopulasjoner har vi avdekket en betydelig QTL som p\u00e5virker hvor alvorlig infeksjonen og hjerteskaden blir (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/341843018_Genome-Wide_Association_Study_Confirms_Previous_Findings_of_Major_Loci_Affecting_Resistance_to_Piscine_myocarditis_virus_in_Atlantic_Salmon_Salmo_salar_L\">Hillestad et al., 2020<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I sykdomstester viste en h\u00f8y frekvens av stamfisken som bar den gunstige QTL-en lave til ikke-p\u00e5viselige niv\u00e5er av viruset, og sm\u00e5 tegn p\u00e5 hjerteskade.
